My focus landed wrong in this picture.
That’s what taking a photo with my glasses on leads to: imperfect focus. I can’t see what’s on the screen. So I have no idea what I’m capturing. Just an image of what should be there.
But then I thought, who is to say that bud there in the front is the one I should’ve been focused on at all? What if the smaller bud in the back is really the standout?
Do I often wander through my life focused on the wrong thing? What smaller, more miraculous stirrings around me are slipping by unnoticed?
What if I call a do over? I could just take a big breath, close my eyes, and then open them… and let my focus land where it will.
Maybe focus is just perspective.
Maybe I was being too prescriptive after all.
